Grunge background

Needs:

·        Brushes ( origin unknown unfortunately)

·        Mask

·         PSP

·        Filter: Fm tile tools – blend emboss

Material can be downloaded here ( UnZip brushes and mask, import brushes as custom brushes, if you don’t know how this is done, look here ) The mask can either be opened in PSP or put in the masks folder.

  1. First, we’ll make the mask.
  2. Open a 500 x 500 pixel image.
  3. Fill with white.
  4. Select your brush and set fore- and background colour to different shades of grey.
  5. Select a brush to your liking. I chose simplybrush-mascara_05 size 350.
  6. Click a couple of times in several spots on the paper, colour black.
  7. Select your brush: simplybrush-mascara_03 and click here and there on the image. Colour  #808080.
  8. Select brush: simplybrush-rawpetals_01 and click several times on your image using colour  #c0c0c0.
  9. Plug-in filters: fm tile tools – blend emboss – standard setting.
  10. Minimize your image.
  11. Now open a new 2400 x2400 pixel image, fill with colour of your choice.
  12. New layer, fill with colour of your choice.
  13. Go to layers – new mask layer – from image ( find the brush image you’ve just made ) and click OK.
  14. Layers – merge Group. Then merge visible layers.
  15. New layer, fill with colour you like.
  16. Load mask from disk and click ok. Now see what you prefer, an entire grunge background or just a grunge edge. If you prefer the edge, go to layers – invert mask.
  17. Merge Group, merge visible layers and save as .jpg file.
