Stitching

Needs: PSP and a lot of patience !

  1. Open an image with size of your choice ( I chose 500 x 500 ).
  2. Fill with colour or pattern to your liking.
  3. Select the pen tool with the following settings:
  4. When your image is larger, you probably have to adjust the width settings accordingly.

  1. Switch off your background colour – set foreground colour to the colour you’d like your stitches to be.

  1. Now draw a line from top to bottom, in order to do this, press and hold down your left mouse button. You’ll also be able to see if your line stays straight. Release your Mouse button when you’re happy with your result.

  1. Change your vector layer into a raster layer by going to your layer palette and choose ‘convert to raster layer’. Go to effects- 3D effects with the following settings:

  1. If you’d like the stitching all around the square, duplicate the stitch layer – go to image – mirror.
  2. Duplicate the stitch layer again – free rotate image – 90 degrees.

  1. Now move everything into the spot you want it to be, duplicate the rotated layer and go to image – reverse image.

  1. Move everything into place and merge the stitched layers only.

  1. New layer. Place it below the stitched layer.

  1. Select your brush with the following settings:

  1. Change foreground colour to  #808080

  1. Now repeat placing dots on the beginning and ending of each stitch.   This is a very precise job.

  1. Now your stitching is done. If you want to use this format more often, remove the bottom layer and save as .png file.

  1.  If you want your stitching around different shapes, select the basic tool and select a nice shape, put your line style on striped. .
