Transparent envelope

 

 

  1. Open a new image 800 x 800
  2. Select shape tool rounded rectangle.
  3. Fore- and background set to a colour of your own choice.
  4. Draw a nice rectangle, vector and remain style untagged.
  5. Set transparency of this layer to 48.
  6. Select selection tool - rectangle and draw a small rectangle on top and cut.
  7. Paste as a new layer.
  8. Image – invert/skip
  9. Use move tool to move this layer to the top.
  10. Add a drop shadow to this layer and set transparency to approximately 50. Duplicate this layer and move it to the bottom.
  11. Now select the lowest layer and remove the rounded part.
  12. The basic envelope is ready now, save it as PNG file.

          Embellish.

  1. New layer.
  2. Select text tool, set foreground colour to locked, background colour same as the actual colour of the envelope.
  3.  Choose a font to your liking and enter some text.
  4. Move all text with the move tool to the correct spot.
  5. Add drop shadow to the text. Everything on 0, opacity on 50.
  6. New layer.
  7. Open dingbat font, minimalize font, ( you are now able to search for it in PSP)
  8. I chose dingbat font Printers Ornaments, character ‘a’.
  9. Enter several dingbats.
  10. Deselect.
  11. Add drop shadow.
  12. Rotate image -90 degrees.
  13. Move dingbat line to its place.
  14. Merge visible layers, save as PNG file.

 

Now, let’s make the envelope’s closure.

  1. Open a new transparent image 300 x 300 pixels
  2. Change foreground and background colour to white.
  3. Select basic tool circle and draw a small circle.
  4. Add drop shadow to it.
  5. New layer.
  6. Now draw a small circle with the selection tool circle with the previously made circular shape.
  7.  
  8. Fill with a pattern or choose gradient steel.
  9. Selections – contract, set to 5.
  10. Click on the delete button.
  11. Add inner bevel to the inside of the small circle.
  12. Merge visible layers.
  13. Copy this layer, paste as new layer and sort at the bottom.
  14. New layer, move it to the layer below the circles.
  15. Select picture tube .
  16. Find the ‘rope’ tube.
  17.  

  18.  draw some lines, mousebutton pressed.

  19. Merge visible layers. Save as PNG file, for future use.

Finishing the envelope

  1. Open envelope, copy the closure and paste it as a new layer on to the envelope.

  2. Use your move tool for proper positioning.

  3. Select the inner circle of the closure with your magic wand.

  4. Select the layer with the envelope and click on delete.

  5. It might be necessary to reduce the size of the closure.

 

It’s also possible to add some colour to the rope. In order to do this, choose adjust – hue and saturation – colouring
